It was a super event…Congratulations to our team members Naramon O’Gara, Veronique Keuhn, Cathy NcNulty, Denise Phillips, Alison O’Brien! This event is the largest in the Hairdressing world and was held in Paris with 49 countries competing.
Veronique took fifth place in the World in Fantasy once again with her year’s work. Cathy, first timer at World Championships, won 4th place in the World for her beautiful work inspired by the sea. Veronique and Cathy were 4th 5th in the WORLD the team was 5th in Europe Zone (13 countries). The overall Western Europe Zone (WEZ) awards (Best in 13 countries) saw the team of Naramon, Alison and Denise take 5th place overall in the Progressive Haircutting and Colour and also the Avant-Garde Award. We’re proud of them, the whole team achieved.
Sean Taaffe was awarded a Wold Medal of Achievement for his work promoting OMC Hairdressing in Ireland and the OMC worldwide. Sean is Vice President of the Irish Hairdressing Council, which is the largest organisation for the Industry in Ireland and the LEAD industry body for the new Hairdressing Apprenticeship.
Maeve O’Healy Harte moved on and up in her role as OMC President of Western Europe (WEZ Zone) to ‘Honorary’ OMC President. She also now works on the competition floor with the Competition Committee and assists the Directors of OMC World Competitions.
Maeve comments on this honour, “I love every part of the OMC World Family which I have been now involved with for 21 years…time flies when you love what you do. Thank you to Steven Jones my OMC WEZ Zone Vice President for the last many years for the support. I will welcome the new president Andjrez in on Dec 15th.
OMC asked me to do a statistical report on some countries in Western Europe. HAIRBRAINED presented the findings in a stage discussion at the MCB Fair while I was there. It was very interesting collecting stats from countries, companies and organisations/federation who did reply to my request. Thank you to Trainer Steven Smart for all your cutting/colouring training and advice. Thank you Bridget Haren President of the Hairdressing Council of Ireland for all your support and making it possible to be part of the whole event. Thank you to Mary Duffy for her co-ordination in Paris of me! and the team backstage, front stage and all the rest. Thank you to the team at ImageSkillnet for all your support. Thank you Simon, who was the minder and helper in Paris and everything else and finally Michael Harte aka Jock who was the fantastic support to me and everyone on the team.”
